’12 Gan-Ji’ Watch by Brownbreath with Alive Tokyo
June 30, 2009 : brand | retail | worn

Korean studio Brownbreath in collaboration with Japanese watch brand Alive Tokyo has created
’12 gan-ji’ watch. The design is based on the ancient Chinese time concept ’12 gan-ji’, which both
Korean and Japanese cultures have. ’12 gan-ji’ is an oriental time concept that divides
a day by 12 terms differing from the ’1day = 24hours’ concept which we use nowadays.
for example, 子 means 2 hours from 11 to 1. all of the 12 terms are the counterpart of 12 different
animals. Chinese characters were modified to sanserif font.
